A world that throws so many lifelines to a genocidal maniac and almost none at all to pro-democracy activists and moderate rebels deserves no peace and has earned its misery. No one will be shielded for long from the fallouts of this travesty. No one.

Syria, South Sudan & The Genocides Yet To Come

I have been arguing for months now that the Syrian genocide and the way the Obama Administration has (mis)handled it are bound to inspire similar developments across the region and far beyond. I believe that the situation in South Sudan promises to be a case in point. Yes, the potential for such tragic developments there is inherent and organic, but this can be said of myriad instances across the world, which is exactly why the Administration needed to quickly contain developments in Syria and not allow them to devolve to where they are now. Apathy in the face of mass atrocities and genocide cannot but inspire more of the same. Before Obama leaves office, we will probably have a dozen such conflicts unfolding simultaneously.

The man, Obama, is delusional and has gone beyond the pale of decency and humanity. As for Rice, she’s not exactly the first person to put career above principle. And we still have three more years with them on the helm. What a happy thought with which to commemorate the encroaching end of the year.

A Realization

Barrel bombs being dropped daily on rebel areas in Aleppo, civilian installations such as schools and field hospitals are often targeted. Famine and denial of medicals services, including medicines and vaccines, are being used as weapons by the Assad regime in Eastern Ghouta and throughout the country. Worsening weather conditions have created a virtual nightmare for refugees in their tent encampments, especially in Lebanon, Jordan and along the long border with Turkey. Still, thousands are fleeing daily to nearby countries to escape bombardment and starvation.
