10,000 Bodies: Inside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s Crackdown – WSJ.
Caesar’s revelations referred in the WSJ article might seem old by now to those following developments in Syria at it has been reported months ago, but now, it is the U.S. official investigators who have examined the evidence supplied by Caesar and who are corroborating his story. Indeed, an Industrial-scale campaign of mass slaughter is being conducted by the Assad regime against his opponent, a campaign that was unleashed soon after the beginning of the Syrian Revolution, even in its year-long nonviolent phase.
Yet, there are those who claim that Assad is the lesser of all evils currently on display in Syria, that the one unleashed this hell to begin with, who pushed for the militarization of the protest movement, who pushed the radicalization of the revolution, who avoided, until the last few days, fighting against the extremists of Al-Qaeda, Nusra and ISIS, and turned his full attention against the secular and moderate elements of the opposition, and the civilian population sympathetic to their cause; that the one who did all this, and more and more and more, is supposed to be the lesser of all evils. Those who believe that, or are simply advocating it for the sake of holding on for dear life to a policy of doing nothing, might as well make sweet passionate love to Satan. It’s not that much of leap for them when you think about it.
The only difference between Assad and ISIS is that the former tries to be secretive about the scale of his crimes, while the latter flaunt them.
Keep up the good work. We are proud of Syrians like you and yours.
